I’m delighted to have been nominated alongside the rest of the Press & Promo team at Decca for a 2021 Music Week Award ahead of this year’s ceremony. We’re nominated in the ‘Promotions Team of the Year’ category, as well as for ‘Label of the Year’!
2020 presented us with many challenges particular to our job roles – including the disappearance of live events, face-to-face interviews and enforced isolation – but we also ran some enriching, innovative campaigns: Gareth Malone’s Great British Home Chorus, Andrea Bocelli’s ‘Music for Hope’ Easter livestream from an empty Milan cathedral, Sir Captain Tom and Michael Ball’s No.1 UK single, ‘Lockdown’ with LYR and Florence Pugh and the Kanneh-Masons ‘At Home’ performances to name just a few.
With the extreme changes to our way of life presented by the COVID-19 pandemic, it was fantastic to be part of a team that helped raise money for NHS Charities Together and the UK domestic abuse charity Refuge. Working from home, it was often difficult to see how we were ‘helping’ when so many people were on the frontline, but looking back on the incredible music the artists shared, along with the financial contribution to important causes generated by record sales, it’s wonderful to be recognised for our hard work over the last year.
The ceremony is planned for 14 September in line with government guidelines, with tickets available to buy here.
