Croo Alternative Indie Market

My stall!

Despite a howling gale and torrential rain, the Manx public showed their weather resilience and came down to Noa Bakehouse to support the Croo alternative indie market yesterday evening.

I was delighted to be approached by the organisers to book a pitch to sell my Manx By Nature Christmas cards and tote bags. It was a totally new experience for me, and it was lovely to meet the other creative merchants at the event. What began as a way of teaching myself how to use Procreate has become a viable small business, and the feedback has been so positive – the sales speak for themselves!

We’re going on the Choo-Choo train! Visiting Ballasalla & Silverdale | Isle of Man Steam Railway

The Isle of Man’s steam railway was opened in 1873 and runs from its Victorian terminus in Douglas to Port Erin in the south of the Island. Join us on our 35-minute journey to Ballasalla, venturing through woods and open fields on the three foot narrow gauge railway line.

We visit the gardens of Rushen Abbey, established almost 900 years ago when King Olaf I earmarked land for a Monastic Abbey in modern-day Ballasalla. Here you can see medieval remains alongside a recreation of the monks’ medicinal garden, alive with colour in early autumn.

Walking along the Silver Burn through Silverdale Glen, the Manx hedgerows are bursting with song – rosehips, blackberries and elder berries provide seasonal sustenance for the wild birds that dance above the footpaths.
